Tyra's Garden is a small garden on the island of Resarö situated in the inner part of the archipelago near the small town Vaxholm, outside Stockholm. Tyra's Garden is mostly an ornamental vegetable garden, my potager. But flowers are of course an important ingredience, for beauty and pollination. The climate in these parts is quite demanding as the northerly winds can be strong and cold. THIS BLOG 'Tyra's Garden' is not entirely a gardenblog it contains much more. About me: Enthusiastic amateur gardener and photographer from Vaxholm, Sweden. Designed and built my Greenhouse and Potager in Tyra's Garden 2003. Harvest Monday with the Harvest Moon

September in the garden  - Harvest Monday at Daphne

Giant cukes! Tomatoes, red hot chili peppers, grapes and blackberries - life is good!

Come a little bit closer
Hear what I have to say
Just like children sleepin'
We could dream this night away.

But there's a full moon risin'
Let's go dancin' in the light
We know where the music's playin'
Let's go out and feel the night.

Because I'm still in love with you
I want to see you dance again
Because I'm still in love with you
On this harvest moon.

When we were strangers
I watched you from afar
When we were lovers
I loved you with all my heart.

But now it's gettin' late
And the moon is climbin' high
I want to celebrate
See it shinin' in your eye.

Because I'm still in love with you
I want to see you dance again
Because I'm still in love with you
On this harvest moon.

Shadow

Red Hot Chili Pepper - Harvest in my potager - Begonia in the greenhouse

Fototriss - 'Three of a kind' and this weeks theme is SHADOW

Without the shadows playing over the objects, the photos are dead. Shadows is just as important as the light in a picture. Its the cooperation between shadow and light that is absolutely essential for a good result. Its an art to be able to see when to catch the moment.

Tyra

September in my Potager

This post 'September in my Potager' was oroginally uploade by Tyra Hallsénius Lindhe in th blog Tyras Trädgård/Tyra's Garden

I have the privilege to have both Vanessa and Echinacea in my September garden, two very beautiful and highly appreciated visitors. Nice combo, don't you think? I just love this time of the year in my potager. It is still warm and kind of quiet and calm, I have this melancholy feeling but… nevertheless it feels actually rather pleasant.

From dewy lanes at morning
The grapes' sweet odors rise;
At noon the roads all flutter
With yellow butterflies.

By all these lovely tokens
September days are here,
With summer's best of weather,
And autumn's best of cheer.

The golden-rod is yellow;
The corn is turning brown;
The trees in apple orchards
With fruit are bending down.

The gentian's bluest fringes
Are curling in the sun;
In dusty pods the milkweed
Its hidden silk has spun.

The sedges flaunt their harvest,
In every meadow nook;
And asters by the brook-side
Make asters in the brook,

But none of all this beauty
Which floods the earth and air
Is unto me the secret
Which makes September fair.

T'is a thing which I remember;
To name it thrills me yet:
One day of one September
I never can forget.
