Tyra's Garden is a small garden on the island of Resarö situated in the inner part of the archipelago near the small town Vaxholm, outside Stockholm. Tyra's Garden is mostly an ornamental vegetable garden, my potager. But flowers are of course an important ingredience, for beauty and pollination. The climate in these parts is quite demanding as the northerly winds can be strong and cold. THIS BLOG 'Tyra's Garden' is not entirely a gardenblog it contains much more. Wild Flowers Native to the Forest Floor

April Blooms

The wild flower ~ Common Hepatica ~

Today the botanical name is Hepatica nobilis but Carl von Linné gave it the name Anemone hepatica. Common names: Common Hepatica, Kidneywort, Liverwort, Pennywort. This little pretty flower is a member of the Ranunculaceae family that is native to the forest floors of temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere. In my country you are not allowed to pick the Hepatica nor dig it up. In the beginning of April each year we can admire and enjoy its astonishing yet uncomplicated beauty in the woods. Among the dry leaves on the forest floor this little fellow reaches up towards the sun and says 'Hello it is spring!'

This is my contribution to this weeks Today's Flower as well as Monday Mosaic. I wish to say Thank you to our dear hosts and to all the visiters,

I wish you a lovely week

...and now something in my native tongue

photo: Tyra 'Arty Hepatica'

Blåsippan ute i backarna står,

Beautiful! I still remember being really excited when I saw these in the wild for the first time years ago on a hike in Bavaria.

Putting Hepatica on my must-have list. Also, I am hoping it is hardy here in Alaska.

The hepatica are lovely, but my favourite shot is the swirly abstract design - how did you do that?

/bea
