Blåsippan ute i backarna står,

Peace-in-the-home ~ Soleirolia soleirolii
Mother of thousands,
Angel's tears or Irish moss?
What do you call this little darling, we call it hemtrevnad and of all the english names of this plant I think Peace-in-the-home is the closest equivalent.
It is Easter Monday and the last day of the Easter Holiday. We have had a most wonderful Easter even wheather-wise until today, another set back in the wheather...but they say it will be over quickly and the spring will be back tomorrow.
Mosaic Monday
"The plant Soleirolia soleirolii (syn. Helxine soleirolii) of the nettle family has a number of common names, including baby's tears, angel's tears, mind-your-own-business, peace-in-the-home, pollyanna vine, mother of thousands, and the Corsican curse. It has also been called Irish moss; however, it is not a moss, nor should it be confused with Sagina subulata or Chondrus crispus, which are also known as "Irish moss". It is a delicate-looking creeping herb with juicy bright green or yellow leaves and multitudes of tiny white flowers. It grows close to the ground in mats and is sometimes used in ornamental gardens alongside ferns and other moisture-loving type of plants." wikipedia

What happens when you don't eat your CABBAGE?
I have been so busy planting tomatoes into bigger pots today and that sure is heavy work, the new pots are 12 litres/3,17 gallons pots and I have planted at least 15 of those today. Mixing my own soil etc.... but I'm not complaining, I'm loving every minute of it. My body is tender and I think I have to take a soothing bath to heal the soreness in my back and legs. If I'm weak tonight the tomatoes are the opposite, they are very happy and soon I can move them into the greenhouse. Can you imagine my veranda with + 50 tomatoes, chilies and gherkins etc? It is soooo crowded! My non gardening husband will arrive from a business trip late tonight and he is not going to be happy, but he's use to it :-)

The Greenhouse - April and the weather has been great for several weeks now!
The cabbage seedlings are coming on fine, these are the different cabbages what are going into my potager this year.
Brassica oleracea L. ' Bosworth' ( sprouts)
Brassica oleracea L. 'Georgia Southern' (collards)
Brassica oleraea v. capitata rubra 'Red Express'
Brassica oleracea var. acephala sabellica 'Pentland Brigs'
Brassica oleracea var. acephala sabellica 'Red Russian'
and at last the Brassica oleracea var. acephala sabellica ' Nero di Toscana'
and the 'N di T' is not at all tasty but I only grow because I think it is so beautiful.
It is beginning to get quite warm (ish) in the mornings now, consequently I can start to bring out my morning tea into the greenhouse and that is something I really enjoy. Life is good!
Here I'm attending some roses I bought the other day, bargains (of course) from my local store I just couldn't resist them :-) but the pots where much too small so they had to be repotted into larger pots, is that the correct word repotted?Blooming Friday! Garden Bloggers' Blooms Day - Potager
Garden Bloggers' Blooms Day
At last spring is here and we can all go out in the garden and enjoy all the lovely blooms. Suddenly our brownish grey 'winter gardens' turns to green and the flowers adds spashes of colour. Everything happens so fast now and you can almost see the grass grow. Now is the time to tidy up the Potager and prepare the beds for the coming growing season. I made a new 'fence' of some sticks and small branches for my peas to climb on, I love to work with the willow. Everything looks rather neat and tidy now and I'm ready to plant :-)....my poor body is aching though. Ahww

Here comes the Sun - Tussilago farfara
COLTSFOOT Tussilago farfara
Coltsfoot is a perennial herbaceous plant that spreads by seeds and rhizomes. Tussilago is often found in colonies of dozens of plants. The flowers, which superficially resemble dandelions, appear in early spring before dandelions appear. The leaves, which resemble a colt's foot in cross section, do not appear usually until after the seeds are set. Thus, the flowers appear on stems with no apparent leaves, and the later appearing leaves then wither and die during the season without seeming to set flowers. The plant is typically between 10 - 30 cm in height. From wikipedia.
