Sunday morning and I'm up before the birds. The house is quiet and I'm on the veranda watching enjoying my morning coffe and the dawn. Isn't just heavenly to watch a pale december sun rising.

I have this little figurine in one of the bedrooms and this morning you was especially pretty as she was standing in the sun among the green ivy. She's actually Swedish, made in Ekeby a very long time ago.

Easter Cactus "in Floribus"

ICE...Brrrr

Sadly but true, and oh-so-common in April we get this setback in nature. Cold winds have given us really cold nights with many degrees below zero. Every morning I find a thick layer with ice in my wooden water barrels. But during the day we have had sunny but still a bit nippy gorgeous April weather. I spend a lot of time in the greenhouse where there is 23 degrees C. (74F) and no wind whatsoever, that’s the way I like it.

A 'Slipper Walk' - I just had to catch that light.

When I woke up this morning it was freezing cold outside -6 C, the sky was heavenly blue, the light was pale pink and so beautiful. Time was tight, I just had to catch that light, it lasts for just a few minutes. I'm off, time for a 'slipper walk'. I jumped into my slippers, grabbed my camera and rushed out for a quick photo shoot in the garden, I sincerely hope that my neighbours didn’t see me, or they would for sure have thought that I’ve gone bananas. Can you picture me running around half-dressed and in my slippers with a tripod in my hand?

Brassica oleracea 'Nero di Toscana' in the greenhouse. It looks rather nice I think, I wonder if I can get it to bloom this season and give me seeds ?

Flax - Linum usitatissimum - Lin

A few years ago we in our village, Engarn, grow flax in the field just below my house where I live. It was so very beautiful, the entire field was covered with the pale blue small flax flowers. I wish they would grow more of this remarkable plant.

Wallpainting - I know I'm potty

We planted a seed...

Do you remember my Topiary bedroom, we have had an empty pot on the wall for some years now and a few weeks ago we decided to plant a seed. Look what's come up...an Impomea. It's not full grown yet so we cannot begin to trim it into a Topiary Impomea we have to wait for some months, maybe we can start next spring. (old post Topiarius Tyra)

I just want to show you this beautiful October morning.

I haven't got many garden ornament but here are a few, the sundail, the crown and my gazebo :-)

När jag vaknade i morse låg det fortfarande dimmor nere på ängen nedanför min trädgård. Tänk att jag älskar verkligen min trädgård på morgonen, jag vet inte riktigt varför men det är nog lugnet och den friska luften. Här är några bilder tagna just igår då det var en sådan där förtrollad morgon.

When I woke this morning it was still mists down on the meadow below my garden. I say ones again I really love my garden in the morning, I do not really know why but it is enough serenity and the fresh air. After breakfast I went for a walk in the garden with my camera. Spider’s web, drops of dew, the autumn colours, the rust on my iron crown and on the old sundial that’s the art of nature that catches my eye. One the other side of the meadow I can see down to the lake, it looks very calm and cold. The colours and structure of the water is soft and mild.

The Big Dig part II. The Roses

Done, 39 roses are down ready for the long rest.

Det var verkligen ett slavjobb. Tungt och skitigt rent ut sagt. Längst ner i botten under själva planteringsgropen lade jag stallgödsel, ingen rolig historia, sedan jord, vatten, ros och jord igen kupat upp runt rosen. Hoppas att det blir bra. Jag är ju definitivt novis på rosor. Men man lär så länge man lever.

The list of the roses in the order they were planted in The Big Dig in groups of three. They are all quite tall and wide and the most important... really fragrant.

Girasole - turns towards the sun!

Girasole

Girasole is the italian namn for the Sunflower, Helianthus annuus L., this remarkable flower. Such a pretty name I think, gira+sole and it does turn towards the sun. The stem of the flower can grow as high as 3 metres tall. Oil from the Sunflower, extracted from the seeds, is used for cooking, as a carrier oil and to produce biodiesel. In Tyra's Garden I simply enjoy there beauty and then I leave them to the birds to feast on them.

Solrosen har alltid en given plats i Tyras Trädgård.

Solros denna osedvanligt ståtliga växt. Så vacker och nyttig. Alla småfåglar i Tyras Trädgård är så glada över att jag odlar detta fantastiska matbord. De hänger och vajar samtidigt som det festar på alla goda frön. Jag måste fånga det på bild någon gång för det ser så härligt ut.

Solros är en vanligen mycket storväxt, ettårig ört. Stjälken är grov, ogrenad, styvhårig och kan bli mer än tre meter hög. Bladen är stora och skaftade, vanligen strödda, med hjärtlik tandad bladskiva. Solros blommar i augusti-september. Läs mer i Virtuella floran.

Tips. Byt ut dyra pinjenötterna mot rostade solroskärnor i sallader eller ex. på Carpaccio.

Papaver in Tyra´s Garden

Papaver "in floribus", it is June in Tyra´s Garden. Poppies everywhere!

I just love this flower. Delicate yet strong and the colour, so bright....oh, wonderful. The seed capsules of the Papaver are also extremely beautiful.

Midsummer / Midsommar

Midsummer/Midsommar

During these few weeks around midsummer the Swedish night are very long. Here on this latitude the sun barely goes down and in the fare north of Sweden it doesn´t go down at all, amazing. The sun is up 24 hours a day!

A woke up extremely early this morning, the birds were singing and the sun stood already high in the sky. I just could not sleep. I put the kettle on and took my camera and went for a walk in my garden. Love me...love me not....love me...love me not...love me!
Morning dew on the Papaver

Dew on the grass, kicked of my shoes......oh such a nice feeling, to feel the moisture between the toes.
Traditional "Midsommardans" around the Maypole, why in earth it´s called Maypole I don´t know, not very logical. We celebrate midsummer because of the Summer Solstice and that is always around 20-21 of June.

Jag vill önska Er alla en riktigt trevlig Midsommar med små grodorna kanske....jordgubbstårta, sill och kryddat brännvin, grillat......etc. njut av den fagra svenska sommarnatten!
