Tyra's Garden is a small garden on the island of Resarö situated in the inner part of the archipelago near the small town Vaxholm, outside Stockholm. Tyra's Garden is mostly an ornamental vegetable garden, my potager. But flowers are of course an important ingredience, for beauty and pollination. The climate in these parts is quite demanding as the northerly winds can be strong and cold. THIS BLOG 'Tyra's Garden' is not entirely a gardenblog it contains much more. About me: Enthusiastic amateur gardener and photographer from Vaxholm, Sweden. Designed and built my Greenhouse and Potager in Tyra's Garden 2003. A Theater in the Garden

This post, "A Theater in the Garden" was originally uploaded and written by Tyra at the blog

This is the new small building project for Tyra's Garden 2009
...
-..
I'm going to build myself a theater. A theater for my Auriculas. I love to design and build all kind of things in wood and when I saw this Auricula Theater in Gothenburg last summer I just fell in love with it. In this picture you can see that is not Auriculas that are on display, I think there where Geraniums actually and that works excellent too don't you think? Perhaps I shall just call it a Plant Theater instead.
...
I can imagine it would look great with just green plants too. Hedera, Sedums and Sempervivums to mention a few.
What do you think isn't just lovely?

The Big Dig part II. The Roses

The Roses

Done, 39 roses are down ready for the long rest.

Det var verkligen ett slavjobb. Tungt och skitigt rent ut sagt. Längst ner i botten under själva planteringsgropen lade jag stallgödsel, ingen rolig historia, sedan jord, vatten, ros och jord igen kupat upp runt rosen. Hoppas att det blir bra. Jag är ju definitivt novis på rosor. Men man lär så länge man lever.

The list of the roses in the order they were planted in The Big Dig in groups of three. They are all quite tall and wide and the most important... really fragrant.
  1. Rosa rugosa (white)
  2. Maigold
  3. Rosa rugosa 'Hansa'
  4. Louis Bognet
  5. Lichtkönigin 'Lucia'
  6. Rosa 'Quattre Saison'
  7. Ritausma
  8. Rosa rugosa 'Hansa'
  9. Henry Hudson
  10. Frülungsluft
  11. Stanwell Perpetual
  12. Rosa 'Anna'
  13. John Davis
......and then came the rain, thank you Lord.
Have a great weekend!

The Big Dig

October is absolutely perfect for planting. This is my project "The Big Dig" . I'm going to plant 39 roses. 12 different kind of roses 3 of each except for Rosa Rugosa 'Hansa' that is my husbands favorite so of those I have 6. My plan is that they are going to form a hedge.... hm we will see......and oh YES, look I have a real plan.

This is how they arrived and this is were I order my roses.

Meet Henry! Henry Hudson, he is from Canada.

Mycket frisk sort. Zon 1-7
