Tyra's Garden is a small garden on the island of Resarö situated in the inner part of the archipelago near the small town Vaxholm, outside Stockholm. Tyra's Garden is mostly an ornamental vegetable garden, my potager. But flowers are of course an important ingredience, for beauty and pollination. The climate in these parts is quite demanding as the northerly winds can be strong and cold. THIS BLOG 'Tyra's Garden' is not entirely a gardenblog it contains much more. About me: Enthusiastic amateur gardener and photographer from Vaxholm, Sweden. Designed and built my Greenhouse and Potager in Tyra's Garden 2003. Love the outdoor life, gardening and sailing especially. View my profile

A Greenhouse from Old Windows

A Greenhouse from Old Windows.

An article about my greenhouse written by Stephie McCarthy at Flea Market Gardening. The pictures in the article are from my blog or my book "Året i Köksträdgården"

Welcome to a Winter Garden Tour...

"Resarö, Sweden — North winds blow hard from the Baltic Sea and buffet against the willow fence around Tyra Lindhe’s kitchen garden. Designer, author, and creator of one of the most appealing Internet garden sites since 2006, this January, Tyra is showing visitors around her greenhouse made from vintage windows rescued from an attic in her seacoast town in Stockholm County. An ardent photographer, Tyra delights visitors with views of her cobbles-and-millstone courtyard glowing in the last rays of afternoon sun. Then as night falls, this creative gardener lights white candles in the windows and instantly adds even more enchantment." read more...

In this issue you meet Charlotta,  Marie and me. Kitchen Garden and Fleamarket Gardening

Rubbish or treasure? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

So very true!

"It was actually rather by chance the whole project started. In 2002 the family found 36 very old windows in an attic, they dated from 1901. My husband thought it would be a great idea to throw the ‘junk’ away but I certainly disagreed with that, I didn’t like that idea at all. Now my resourceful mind started to work intensively. Those window had a history, they were beautiful, single glass windows with a lot of charm and in a fairly good condition too. It didn’t take long until the thought of building greenhouse of them begun to progress"...read more in Toil the Soil

Happy New Year 2011 - Thank You for this Year.

This post 'Happy New Year 2011 - Thank You for this Year.' was originally uploaded by Tyra Hallsénius-Lindhe in the blog

Last day of december and 2010...I just would like to thank all of you wonderful blogging garden-friends for a fantastic year. I also wish you a great, prosperous and Happy New Year!

This is a favourite in our home, it is a Danish (Scandinavian) Kransekage. This Kransekage is often served during Christmas, New Year and Weddings. It is an almond paste cake - the only ingredients are Almond paste, egg-whites and icing sugar for the decoration.

Happy New Year!  / TYRA

St Patrick's Day and A New Article...

This post, 'St.Patrick's Day - Reportage i Allers Trädgård' was originally uploaded and written by Tyra at the blog Tyra's Garden http://waxholm.blogspot.com/
...

This is the most green day of the year. If you are interested in some Irish dirt you just have to look at this, Irish Dirt here you can also buy Shamrock seeds. It's amazing!

...

Now my friend it's time for a new piece about my Greenhouse in one of the monthly garden magazines here in Sweden called Allers Trädgård. This time I'm especially anxious to see how it turnes out because I'm the photographer :-) it's not the first time I have had pictures published before but this time it is the whole reportage and that makes it very exciting.

...

...

Have a wonderful Green Day!

Saturday

The sun came out for a second....

Today, I'm still sad, angry and disapointed and its all that SCOUNDRAL fault that I wrote about yesterday.

But then the 'sun came out' to brighten my grey and miserable November day, a friend came along an told me that there was an article in one of the largest papers in Sweden (DN) about garden bloggers. We have great many garden bloggers here and two of my blogs where mentioned as a blogg well worth a visit, thank you! :-)

Dahlia in the potager, the most positive flower I could find, I love you dear Dahlia.

Blogs that was mentioned in a most positive way was:

Fundera grönt

Hannu på kinnekulle

Lilla B Mias trädgårds blog

Slottsträdgårdsmästaren

Lindas trädgårdsblogg

Rubens rabatter

and two of my blogs Tyras Garden and my Swedish blog Västhus & Potager

Artikel i DN bostad om trädgårdsbloggare, artikeln kan ni läsa HÄR

Saturday

Aftonbladets Härligt Hemma - Hus och Hem

Sköna, gröna stunder i växthuset.

Today you can read about me and my greenhouse in one of the big newspapers here in Sweden. It is called Aftonbladet and they have a weekend magazine each Saturday.

The article opens with – A greenhouse is not just for growing. In the perfect greenhouse you can for example enjoy a glass of wine in the dark evenings of August.

Very true indeed. It was really fun to see the garden and the greenhouse in a magazine. To celebrate this I have a bowl with raspberries from the garden, I wonder how I shall prepare them......

Have a nice day
