COLTSFOOT Tussilago farfara
Coltsfoot is a perennial herbaceous plant that spreads by seeds and rhizomes. Tussilago is often found in colonies of dozens of plants. The flowers, which superficially resemble dandelions, appear in early spring before dandelions appear. The leaves, which resemble a colt's foot in cross section, do not appear usually until after the seeds are set. Thus, the flowers appear on stems with no apparent leaves, and the later appearing leaves then wither and die during the season without seeming to set flowers. The plant is typically between 10 - 30 cm in height. From wikipedia.

I vote for Here comes the sun! ;-) I don't have coltsfoot in the garden, which is a pity, but I do have dandelions. ;-)
Håller med dig! Tänk att man kan bli så glad av ett litet "ogräs"... ; ))

Tack för solen. Det behövde jag!
"Here comes the sun" är ju given på "Soundtracket till Våren". Själv har jag inte sett några tussilago ute ännu, men dottern kom hem med några igår som hon plockat så nog finns de här...!
Good morning Tyra. Coltsfoot was brought to the US by early settlers because of its medicinal use. It has spread so dramatically it is considered dangerous to our native plants and grasses. In spite of all that, it is a pretty ray of sunshine in early spring.

I've never before seen Coltsfoot, or if I have, mistook it for a dandelion, but I think not. Interesting information.
This is one the weeds on my allotment plot, so I'm not too fond of it, but it looks rather lovely here.
Wow, har du sett tussilago redan!?
GLAD PÅSK

Looks like a flower face of the sun! Happy Easter, dear Tyra. Enjoy this beautiful time of year.
Hi Tyra...The name seems really familiar. I like yellow flowers and this one has a good face; but then I like dandelions until they seed everywhere. Have a good weekend. gail
Hi Tyra .. I love those songs you mentioned. And that yellow flower is beautiful. Sunny beautiful.
Beautiful post and beautiful song too. How we all LOVE the Spring.

GREAT Beetles songs Tyra. Anyone of them would work for me. Coltsfoot is another new perennial to me. I've never seen it before but I would like anything that blooms earlier than a dandelion. The sunny yellow color is striking against the brown soil.
