I’m back from London, my favourite Metropolis.
...
...
I didn’t know and I actually just found out that London was in fact called Metropolis during the Victorian era. During this much to short visit to London my only ambition tourist-wise was to visit the famous (Victorian) Highgate Cemetery and I will give you a post about this fantastic place in a post shortly.
~~~
Today I’m going to show you some pictures from an old and absolutely wonderful store called Fortnum & Mason. They have a lot of stuff even some lovely things for the garden, to posh for my taste. This time I want to share some other hilarious bits and pieces with you or what do you think about this Coffee and Tea set.
Everything is expensive in this store but the quality is exquisite! Thank God that I just had a small suitcase otherwise I would have been ruined. Though I was able to squeeze in a few beautiful tins with delicious biscuits.
...
This is my favourite department....the Confectionary department.
It is a feast for the eye to see all those lovely Chocolates - Cakes and Bisquits - Sweets - Marmalades & Preserves.
...
more of those colourful Teatime stuff...
One of the days we were out walking for more than 14 hours! Of course we stopped for coffee, snacks & beer, lunch, coffee again and supper :-) but still... we were very glad to find this bench. Isn't it just beautiful? Very comfortable too, I loved it so much that I looked it up up and it is from Gaze Burvill in UK and it is called Court Seat (cute name)
I saved the best to the last, finally a flower. Wisteria
Härligt, jag börjar riktigt längta, kram.
Have never been to Fortnum & Mason Tyra - must get there one day. I imagine it to be a bit overwhelming like Harrods :)
Fortnum & Mason's are still wonderful, and their coffee shop does one of the best breakfasts in London. Highgate is fantastic - did you manage to get to both sites ? Look forward to the pictures. I found the wild cats a bit wild last time I went.
Thanks for the tour Tyra. The colourful tea-sets look so pretty! Love the Court Bench too. Eagerly waiting for your Friday post!
Jag förstår att du blev förförd i det varuhuset. Jag missade aldrig ett besök där, när jag bodde utanför London och åkte in till sta´n. Annars gillar jag mindre butiker bättre. Men lite lyxmat var man ju tvungen att komma hem med till familjen, när man shoppat en hel dag...*fniss*
Kram Randi
Tired of london - Tired of Life! So many things to explore and discover in that huge Metropolis! I never seem to get an opputunity to go like when I was younger and got on the plane all the time. Looking forward to your post and pictures from the cemetary.
I have never been to London, but I know DH would love to go. Fortnum & Mason sounds like a wonderful place to browse. Lovely post and pictures.
Bänken är både vacker och ser väldigt skön ut. Först reagerade jag på armstödet i mitten, men vid närmare eftertanke kanske det inte är så dumt, det är ju alltid skönt att kunna lägga upp armen. Man kan ju bli lite trött i den efter alla pubbesök!;-) Eller hur var det, Tyra? /Ruben
På deras hemsida har de inte det där stödet i mitten - how strange is that? ;-) /Ruben
Thank you all for your the great comments!
Hannele jag tänkte på dej när jag såg tekopparna! :-)
Anna, it is certainly worth a visit.
Hermes I did just the old West side, I booked a week in advance to be sure to get in. I'm take the Marx side the next time.
Randi det är ju atmosfären som är så häftig tycker jag. Till och med toaletterna är vackra.
Niels well said. I could go there at least every other month.
Thank you Sweet bay, it's a bit far for you isn't it.
Buben den var gudomligt skön en som vill jag ha...den kommer upp på önskelistan.
Tyra, My dear i would love to have tea with you in your greenhouse out of those delightful teacups! I love looking but can see that this store would really tax my resolve to be thrifty! Glad you're back! gail
Oh how I'd love to get "lost" in that store for a day! or even a couple hours. It looks wonderful. I'm sure I couldn't afford it but it would be fun to look. It sounds like you had a good trip. Good for you!
Oh, how fun, Tyra! This post is making me think of Sophie Kinsella's Shopaholic books! Have you read them? Hilarious! Favorite is Undomesticated Goddess.
You must check them out. Fun! Glad you had a good time in London. Looking forward to your next post! xoxo
I too wish you a great week. Love the confection department too! That court seat is really neat. I am thinking you'll soon have one in your garden? Come to think of it, it would look great in mine too! So glad you had a good time. I've been to London once and really enjoyed it-a good part because they all speak the same language as me! That sure helps when you are a tourist:)
Hi Gail no I didn't them :-( but your are welcome for some some tea in my greenhouse anytime.
Hi Kathleen that is the thing in a store like that it is pure joy just to soak in the atmosphere.
Kathryn thank you for the great tip!
Hi Tina and thank you for your comment. You know that bench was so comfortable, it would be just perfect in my garden to sit and rest and think about...life.
xoxo Tyra
Älskar ju London och blir alltbra sugen på att åka dit nu när jag ser dina bilder. :) Man kan inte bli annat än glad av de där färgstarka tekannorna.
Kram Karin
Oh, I can almost smell that wisteria from here! There's no other scent like it in the world. Whenever I see some, I have to stop and take a few big whiffs! Hope you have fun in London, safe travels!
Hej Tyra!
Vet inte om jag skall vara så här avslöjande, men - generande nog - har ALDRIG varit i London!
Har varit på många "konstiga" ställen på vår jord, men delar av Europa har jag inte prioriterat. Rodnar!
Desto trevligare är att få reportage därifrån och jag inser att som pensionär får jag prioritera även i fortsättningen andra resemål...;))!
mvh, Anja
