Tyra's Garden is a small garden on the island of Resarö situated in the inner part of the archipelago near the small town Vaxholm, outside Stockholm. Tyra's Garden is mostly an ornamental vegetable garden, my potager. But flowers are of course an important ingredience, for beauty and pollination. The climate in these parts is quite demanding as the northerly winds can be strong and cold. THIS BLOG 'Tyra's Garden' is not entirely a gardenblog it contains much more. With this collage I'm saying Good-bye to the winter. I still have cold weather but today I'm starting up the Greenhouse after the long winter break. There will be NO more winter pictures and no more snow in Tyra's Garden for this season. I'm standing with one foot in winter land and one in spring and very soon I'll take a giant step towards lighter and brighter days.

;-) /Ruben

Glade to hear the Spring is coming to your garden. Looking forward to seeing your new Spring flower pictures.

Tyra, there are many signs of spring but the best one is the longer days, seeing the garden before and after work - that's the end of winter for me.

Best wishes Sylvia (England)

Haha..

Sylvia I like your 'definition' when the winter is over, it certainly make sense to me.

I bet the daffodils are in bloom now in your garden, I've seen your gorgeous helleborus :-) the other day and this year I'm going to plant some too.

Oh Tyra, I am with you all the way! Even though the photos of your greenhouse with the snow makes for the pleasantest of dreams, the time has come for warmth. I am noticing the longer days too here and it makes me glad.

Frances that is the great thing that we have brighter days ahead of us. I wish we could say that about more topics of interest...

Vi får räkna med snö i april,
men härligt med ett växthus.
Ha en bra fettisdag.

Tyra, I see you are observing meteorological winter instead of astronomical winter. I'm doing the same thing. While we don't have the snow you do, I am tired of the cold weather and am glad to see it is on its way out of here.

Hooray! Even tho your greenhouse was exceptionally beautiful covered in snow, I am happy to take that step with you. Good-bye winter! Hello Spring! :-) I see your hyacinth photo was from 2007 ~ did you force any this year? (I hope I didn't miss them).

Tyra, I'm joining your winter boycott! Just say no to winter. We just started having 12 hours of daylight here (that's from twilight to twilight, not surise to sunset). Time to celebrate!

Tyra hope your spring comes very quickly. I can't imagine life with the sun even though I wish for a chilly day every now and then. Warm regards from the Caribbean.

This is just what I need to get in the mood for looking ahead to the new season. And tonight there was a blackbird singing in the dusk as we ate our Shrove Tuesday pancakes!

Our days are still longer.
Tonight at the dinnertable, our son said: look outside: it's 18.30 yet, and only now it is dark...

Yes there comes a time when you have to consider winter over and done with otherwise you would go mad with frustration!
Unfortunately my greenhouse is still full of tender plants but once the tomato seeds are up the greenhouse will have to be cleared whatever the weather.

Dear Tyra,
I like this plan and can't wait to see your greenhouse all ready for spring! The days are getting longer and need to be embraced! gail

Hej Tyra!

beautiful tyra...
I visited your neck of the woods years ago with my husband...we spent a long weekend in Stockholm while living in London. we decided on the Sunday afternoon to get on the ferry to the islands and rode it all the way to the last stop and got off without much thought of food or lodging (not so smart) lodging was fine, but food was not...we wandered the island for about 24 hours (until the ferry came back to take us to civilization) examining what seemed to us to be some the strangest flora and fauna (huge inky black slugs, giant rhubarb looking plants, etc.) and discussing which ones we might try to eat (survivor style) should the ferry not return the next morning...definatly a cherished memory that your blog reminds me of...thanks.

I like your spunk, Tyra! One foot in spring and that's that. I think I've done the same in spite of numerous days and days of rain. Today is even frosty, but no rain! May the sun be blessing your days very soon!
Hugs! xoxo
