Tulipa kaufmanniana Heart's Delight - Waterlily tulip

Tulipa kaufmanniana 'Heart's Delight'
also called
The Waterlily tulip

This Blooming Friday I would like to introduce a small and pretty tulip. The tulipa kaumanniana ’Heart’s Delight'. If you are interested of tulips I found this most informative page where you can read a lot of fascinating things about these small wonders.

In The Garden of Paghat the Ratgirl visit the tulip page here

The kaufmannianas are called "waterlily type" because when fully opened on a very sunny day, they are flat & starshaped and bear a resemblance to waterlilies. They do not, of course, live in water, nor do they even require much watering, prefers moist and well-drained soil when active, and rather dry soil when dormant. Read more about my darling tulips in these posts:

Blooming Friday, meet more participants here at Katarina's Roses and stuff

I wish you all a very lovely weekend

- Ha en trevlig blommig fredag och en riktigt trevlig helg!

These are lovely tulips. I love looking at pictures of them because I don't grow them in my garden. The heat comes on too early, and they don't last. Thanks for showing some I am not familiar with.

Botaniska tulpaner är fina. Dessutom kommer de tillbaka år efter år, ja de kan till och med sprida sig! Trevlig helg, Tyra! /Ruben

A tulip which looks like a waterlily? What a great deal! Two very pretty flowers in one :D
Doesnt it remind you just a little bit of Zephyranthes too?

they are truly delightful with their shape and color! they not only warms the heart, but also evokes a feeling of serenity...

maybe they should be called lilytulip (a combination of lily, tulip and "liliput" --- the land of small people in Gulliver's travels in reference to these tulips' size)...

De är jättesöta!

Trevlig helg Moursch!

Beautiful and unusual tulips Tyra. I don't have any experience with them but I'll have to read up now. Don't tell me these are already blooming in your garden?? If so, I'm jealous! I haven't ever visited "Paghat the Ratgirl" so I'll have to pop over and check it out. I hope you have a nice weekend too.

I like very much! Kaufamaniatulpaner är verkligen fina, så olika de tulpaner vi nu har i buketterna. Jag gillar att de öppnar sig helt, nästan lite för mycket.

Thank you so much my friend for all your lovely comments and a warm welcome to all the new faces.

We have to wait some 40 days until springs arrives, it does sound like a lot but you know times flies when you're having fun.

Take care and I wish you all a lovely Sunday.

xoxo Tyra

Lovely tulips! I can see why they're nicknamed Water Lily Tulips. I'll have to settle for pictures since tulips don't seem to like my hot dry summers.

These Tulips are a delight Tyra - Oh I am looking forward to having Tulips back in the Garden, not too long to wait now.

Vilken sötnos till tulpan :) och Jag tycker det är jättebra att det finns så naturtrogna Orkideér att pryda palntan med när den inte blommar!

I love the species tulips. I will have to try some of those. They'll need protecting from the hungry voles though!

I love your greenhouse. It's absolutely beautiful.

And I love the tulips in the gravel! I bet they love it there, and get protection from hungry critters.

I love your 'Heart's Delight' tulips, Tyra. I must find some to plant in my garden.
Enjoy planting your seeds and watching them grow. How lucky you are to have a nice sunny verandah to keep them on.
We have chicory growing wild all over the place around here, including in our lawn where it's not so welcome :) I love the pretty blue flower.
We can see bare ground here and the snow is patchy. Still cold though.
