Tyra's Garden is a small garden on the island of Resarö situated in the inner part of the archipelago near the small town Vaxholm, outside Stockholm. Tyra's Garden is mostly an ornamental vegetable garden, my potager. But flowers are of course an important ingredience, for beauty and pollination. The climate in these parts is quite demanding as the northerly winds can be strong and cold. THIS BLOG 'Tyra's Garden' is not entirely a gardenblog it contains much more. 'Whiter Shade of Pale' - Claus Dalby's Spring Garden

This post, "Whiter Shade of Pale" was originally uploaded and written by Tyra at the blog Tyra's Garden http://waxholm.blogspot.com/

...
I usually store my ABC Wednesdays in the Greenhouse but not so this week. I thought as it is not about my garden, potager nor the greenhouse I'll rather have it here.

R is for Risskov

These pictures are from Risskov near Århus, Denmark
...

Meet Claus Dalby’s fantastic garden, that I call a ’Whiter shade of pale’ garden. This man can really paint with his plants, though his spring garden is almost monochrome it is truely amazing, so very beautiful. Claus found all these wonderful plants and composed them into a crème coloured symphony for his spring garden.

Thank you all for your nice comment, I cannot actually take credit for the pictures unfortunately, they are from Klematis, I have just done the cillage.

That is a fantastic garden, wish I could visit myself. I could never limit myself to such a limited color palette - it would be so tempting to add a splash or orange!

Hi Tyra, I always loved that song even though the lyrics are slightly nonsensical. It seems after seeing them written down that they were dancing and had been drinking too much? HA Anyway, Claud's garden is a masterpiece! The tulips with the variegated iris? is just look wonderful. A true artist with the planting spade.

What a beautiful place to visit! The paler shades certainly have a dramatic and serene effect. I would have a difficult time keeping from adding a few bright colors to my own garden, though. I never understood those lyrics either, though I'll be humming that song all afternoon:)

oh my goodness ~ what a masterpiece. I never think of creating/planting in shades of the same color but look how spectacular it turned out. I love it! Thanks for sharing it with us too. It's one of those gardens that deserves to be seen & appreciated by many people. Hope you're having fun planting??

You have a lot of cool pictures here, very nice to look at. I never understood that song, either. It sounds like he's describing an event, and we weren't there, so . . . oh, well!

Thank you for sharing this fantastic garden. We are happy to have flower come out well in our garden. It is so fascinating to see how he can combine the different color of the flower into a beautiful painting.

Did you make the collage? These flowers (and the photos) are wonderful. They make me miss my garden still more.
