My Potager on Last day of July

This post 'My Potager on the Last day of July' was originally uploaded by Tyra in the blog Tyra's Garden

Well...Last day of July! I find it a bit sad, A kind of melancholy feeling came over me this morning when I took my usual round in the garden. I'm sad that the summer of 2009 is coming to an end and yet I love this time of the year. Love the dark, warm evenings when you can sit outside and enjoy the calmness of the evening. The water in the sea is also kind of warm (20C) and one can take a late evening swim and float aroun for a bit looking at the stars.

Then last but not least it is harvest time. Here are a few pictures from this morning and they are my contribution to this weeks Blooming Friday, you find more participants here at Katarina.

Dahlia x hostensis ' Tomas Edison' among all my veggies, it is huge this year.

Dahlia x hortensis 'Tomas Edison' named after the great inventor Tomas Alva Edison, you know the one with the light bulb. My Tomas really spreads light in my potager just like a bulb :-)

I wish you all a great blooming weekend!

Yes the vegetable harvest has begun. A consolation for the realisation that we are moving deeper into the second half of the year!

Wow! Your Tomas Edison is perhaps one of the most beautiful dahlias I have ever seen! Gorgeous! Your photos too... What a lovely world you have... to float in the sea and gaze at the stars! Lovely!

I just wanted to add that I so admire your fabulous Kale! From Carol in Soggy Massachusetts!

Oh! those are so touching sentiments dear Tyra. I feel the same way except that it is on the last day of the winter season! I guess the scorching hot summers which we have in India explain the disparity in our respective thoughts.
Well, don't feel sad, everything and every season has its own dear charm...

// Peter

I was sad too Tyra, flipping the calendar over to August. I never like the thought of summer ending, I wonder why (of all the seasons), it's the one that seems to fly by the fastest? Your potager is outstanding and that Thomas Edison dahlia most fantastic. I hope these warm August days drag by so we can enjoy every second.
btw, thank you for your encouraging words when I was suffering blog "burn out" ~ they really lifted me.

Oh, here we go. Nostalgia for summer and we are feeling it here as well, dear Tyra, even though I am in California and have at least two more solid months of sun to anticipate, maybe three. Still, you can feel it in the air and in the quality of light: things are shifting, yes, they are. And we sympathize in a happy grateful sort of way. :) Your garden is beautiful, as always.

Tyra, that dahlia is so very dramatic! Whoever named it really knew what they were doing ... it really lights up the garden and puts a smile in you, doesn't it? :)

Ohhh your garden is just lovely and the greenhouse is stunning! Kim
