Tyra's Garden is a small garden on the island of Resarö situated in the inner part of the archipelago near the small town Vaxholm, outside Stockholm. Tyra's Garden is mostly an ornamental vegetable garden, my potager. But flowers are of course an important ingredience, for beauty and pollination. The climate in these parts is quite demanding as the northerly winds can be strong and cold. THIS BLOG 'Tyra's Garden' is not entirely a gardenblog it contains much more. After several weeks at sea I'm now back, back to ordinary everyday life, back to work and back to my garden and greenhouse. Oh boy what a mess in my garden, what on earth happened while I was gone or perhaps more correctly put what didn’t happened? Some of the weeds are taller then I am, now that perhaps isn’t too hard :-). In some places I wonder what do I grow here...hm? Well give me I few days, by then I will have filled the compost bin to the brim with weeds and over-grown vegetables and then we are back on the track again. Perhaps I can sow some lovely Asian greens now…

Among the up-to-the-elbow-tall weeds my friend John Davis is looking good and a lot of other roses as well. Pure joy!

In the greenhouse I’m now able to harvest all my lovely tomatoes. All the heirlooms I ordered from U.S. are now mature and they are so lovely, beautiful and delicious. Cherokee purple is still the favourite. Much more about the tomatoes in The Greenhouse blog.

Nice to be back in front of the computer as well!

Tyra - you continue to surprise me! I didn't reasize that you also had a "sailing" blog. Beautiful. I used to sail a bit in Danish waters many years ago.
My heirloom tomatoes are looking great and growing well, but I think that the taste of most of them is somewhat "blah" because of lack of sun.

Several weeks at sea -- that sounds like heaven!!

Sweet bay/Salix - It is heavenly to sail but it is so hard to be away from the garden or gardening. Each time I get out on the see I pack loads of stuff from the garden and that is great, herbs, veggies and flowers, they all remind my of my 'heaven' on land.I'm glad you found my sailing blog and ever more glad you liked it.
About the 'blah'taste, spice them up. That is the good thing with tomatoes, they are so versatile.

xoxo Tyra

Good luck!

....and I,m glad to have you back....som vi säger på finska ;))!

Hi Tyra - Welcome back to your beautiful garden (I know those weeds won't last long with you around) and blogland. Your tomatoes are amazing, so colorful, every hue possible. At least no weeds to pull in the greenhouse, right? :)
