Tyra's Garden is a small garden on the island of Resarö situated in the inner part of the archipelago near the small town Vaxholm, outside Stockholm. Tyra's Garden is mostly an ornamental vegetable garden, my potager. But flowers are of course an important ingredience, for beauty and pollination. Mosiac Monday Little Red House - Saint Lucia

This post Little Red House - Saint Lucia was originally uploaded by Tyra Hallsénius Lindhe in the blog Tyra's Garden

This is from yesterdays walk through the little village Åkerby. What a wonderful winter day, the sun was shining and the snow was glittering and it was just a perfect Sunday afternoon. All the little red houses brightened up the otherwise fairly black and white landscape. This is where I have my little red cottage, my "summerhouse", Åkerby is a very old village, I don't know how old but I know that the Russians burnt most of it down in 1917 during the so called "rysshärjningarna" Russian ravages. The clocktower in Åkerby is from 1739 and my little red house is from 1901.

Today we celebrate The Day of Saint Lucia   (Saint Lucy's Day wikipedia) a lovely day in Advent. A day with filled with glorious music, lots of candlelights, saffron bread and of course Lucia.

Enjoyed reading about the history of your town and seeing your beautiful little red house set in the snow with the blue, blue sky above. Oh we only read about this day that you have celebrated. It looks so charming.

Kram Randi

Tyra! It is wonderful to stop by once again to view your blog! I have been busy relocating to a little house in the woods and am enjoying the quiet life. Winter has put a hush on my winter white world. I see that yours is snow white too! A lovely quaint little village...I saw many while I toured Europe.Happy holidays!

What a beautiful mosaic, Tyra. I love Sweden. I visited twice many years ago, as one of my mother's close friends was from there. Your little red house is adorable!

I love the photos of the snow, it looks just magical... it's wonderful to read all about winter on the other side of the world while I am here in the middle of summer. I'd love to swap for a day :)

Hi Ali,

Just like to share with you a beautiful quote...

Happy Winter, Tyra. We in California envy you your beautiful snowy scenes, you probably envy us our mild days, although we are in a bit of a weather storm series. Do you think I might copy your Mosaic Monday for 1 email to 1 person? (I'm sending a download to an Orphei Drangar Christmas CD and would like to wrap it in a bit of Sweden winter. Whichever way, have a lovely holiday. Jeannie

Dear Tyra,

God Jul! And a very happy and healthy New Year to you and yours.

How lucky you are to have such a lovely red summerhouse in such an old village.

Here we have a lot of snow (30 cm) which is very special in my country. Little doggy Tara loves the snow very very much.
