A 'Slipper Walk' - I just had to catch that light.

This post, A' Slipper Walk'..., was originally uploaded and written by Tyra at the blog Tyra's Garden http://waxholm.blogspot.com/

When I woke up this morning it was freezing cold outside -6 C, the sky was heavenly blue, the light was pale pink and so beautiful. Time was tight, I just had to catch that light, it lasts for just a few minutes. I'm off, time for a 'slipper walk'. I jumped into my slippers, grabbed my camera and rushed out for a quick photo shoot in the garden, I sincerely hope that my neighbours didn’t see me, or they would for sure have thought that I’ve gone bananas. Can you picture me running around half-dressed and in my slippers with a tripod in my hand?

Beautiful crystals of ice on the glass of one of the greenhouse windows.

Brassica oleracea 'Nero di Toscana' in the greenhouse. It looks rather nice I think, I wonder if I can get it to bloom this season and give me seeds ?

The sundial and the view from my garden towards the east and the lake.

Frosty Brassica oleracea 'Nero di Toscana' in the potager. The hares hasn't found it yet. They usually have a feast of the last of Kale and Cabbages.

The greenhouse windows covered with crystals

Leaves of Bramble Rubus (Blackberries in September) still hanging on to the vine.

The field where the flax grew and the Allotment down by the lake.

A very cold and lonely looking greenhouse.

The last picture shows my old and very un-pruned Pear tree. I must do something about that tree it looks dreadful. By the way, when during the year is the best time to do it?

That's all folks! Brrr...

After this nippy 'slipper walk' the breakfast taste wonderful.

What beautiful pictures. It would be difficult to choose a favorite. I have those days where I try to slip out in some hideous outfit and HOPE the neighbors don't see me!!!

Hi Mildred, glad to hear that I'm not alone, well you cannot always be gorgeous looking can you?

Hilarious! but well worth it. The frost on the window is like a lovely natural lace curtain.

Nero di toscana was what I had for lunch today. It's a great winter burst of green, isn't it?

I run out to fill the birdbath and feeders many times in my slippers and pj's!! I'm sure the neighbors find it humorous. Your slipper walk was fabulous. The ice etchings on your greenhouse windows were stunning and had to be my favorites. Although I love any angle & view of your beautiful greenhouse too. It's good you thought to run out and capture them before they disappeared.

I do the same thing all the time Tyra, slippers & pjs! lol :)

I kruka förstås?Läckert!
Läckert!

mvh, Anja

Hi Linda, I'm glad you like it and yes it does look like lace curtains in one of the photos doesn't it?

Kathleen and Racquel, slippers and pjs, how lovely girls!

TYRA Hallsénius Lindhe said...

Both photos of the windows with frost on them made my heart jump because they are so gorgeous!! Remind me of lace curtains.

Hi Tyra, brrrr, I feel the cold in my tootsies in sympathy for yours! But that was a wonderful pinky light and like you say it lasts but a moment then is gone. Well done!
Frances

TYRA Hallsénius Lindhe said...

Hi Chandramouli and thank you for the comment, it is amazing with those crystals isn't it?

Hi Barbee, yes, especially the second one.

Hi Frances, I think that magical light it just there for a short time, it disappears after 10-15 minutes or so, then it's gone.

Take care girls/ xoxo Tyra

Tyra, I think your pear tree has a beautiful form in silhouette! I love the sepia tone of some of the photos, too. It's beautiful there where you live!

I go out in the garden in my pajamas and slippers many times, but not in winter!

MMM--it DOES look cold, but beautiful...I'm glad you braved the cold, even in your slippers, to bring us such lovely photos. and the days are getting longer, slowly but surely....

TYRA Hallsénius Lindhe said...

Hi Stewart and thank you.

Hi Kylee the Pear has got a nice silhouette but it needs to be trimmed!

Hi Jodi that's it...always look at the bright side.

I wish you alla a nice week/ xoxo Tyra

Karen and Tina my gardening artists thank you so much for your comment and Tina nice interview at My Mother's Garden. Great idea!

It is fun to hear that I'm far from not alone with early half-dressed garden walks.

Speciellt i svag belysning.

I love those frost photos. It reminds me of when I lived in Colorado. My dad only set the heat to 55°F (13°C) so our rooms were cold. During the winter the ice etching on the windows were so beautiful.

You brave person - and to take out a tripod as well! Very professional.
Lovely photos and I shivered as I looked at them :-)

Hi Daphne we call them 'ice roses' as well, they are beautiful aren't they.

Hi easygardener, yes professional and awfully silly!

Hi the Muse, prose? haha thank you!

Take care and have a wonderful day!

Hi Jan, I love the changes of the seasons that we have here but...the winter is too long, dark and cold. I think you are a lucky girl living in a more 'human' climate.
My brother with whom I work with left for Thailand yesterday morning and I must say I was so jealous!
