T.G.I Friday - TULIPS

This post, "T.G.I Friday"was originally uploaded and written by Tyra at the blog Tyra's Garden http://waxholm.blogspot.com/

T.G.I Friday

The weekend begins, you buy some really nice food and drink for dinner, add some great music and fresh flowers on the table...it's Friday, the best day of the week.

...
Tulips are the favourites right now, they are a messenger of spring and gives us so much joy. When you buy them they are so fresh that the stems make this lovely squeaking noise and they stay fresh the whole week especially if you store them cold during the night. Another thing I like about the tulips are that I think they are getting old very gracefully, the flowers opens the shape alters totally, the colour gets softer, however still beautiful. One day the leaves start to fall and then you know....it's Friday again!

Tyra, these are beautiful. I never buy tulips as cut flowers because I think the heads will flop and they will not last long - I think I should give them another try. I have one tulip in the garden out, can you believe it, it is really early. It is a red/orange small early flowering type.

Best wishes Sylvia (England)

Sounds like you have a lovely weekend ahead of you. We are looking for a serious snowstorm here beginning tonight. Maybe picking up some tulips would help lift my spirits as I dig out from under the snow;)

Hi Marnie poor thing, snowstorm! Then you have to make it extra warm and cozy indoors.

Bellissime!

Smaklig spis ikväll med ceviche och roquamole!

Last week the stores had out pots of red tulips for Valentine's Day, and they looked so pretty and cheerful. I love tulips, and your posting reminds me how nice it is to have fresh flowers for the weekend.

Hi Tyra, what a wonderful way to get through the week. I love the petals falling means it's friday again. What fabulous and cheering colors you have chosen. Love the reds! I am trying to do more red flowers in the garden outside too this year. Pleasing to the eye. :-)

I have never had much joy with tulips as cut flowers Tyra - they always flop. Perhaps I will try again. Your bunch is so cheerful ! Have a good weekend.

Great advice. We all need a good restful weekend and I hope you have one too. I bet you do work very hard. Your tulips are beautiful and they make the table more romantic.

What a nice way to end the week Tyra. I never think about that although I buy loads and loads of tulips every spring (before they're blooming in my garden). I love the color red so your arrangement is fabulous to me. Enjoy the weekend and add some candles to the table, then it's perfect!

VP said...

I'm smiling because my tulips have just started to poke their noses above the soil this week - yay spring's really on it's way!

Have a great weekend!

Hej Tyra!

mvh, Anja

Hallå Tyra, hoppas allt är bra!Vilka vackra bilder!

Tyra,

Thanks for visiting my blog! Just love seeing tulips, yours are stunning. Just wish that we could grow them better here as voles/moles or other critters eat them after the first year if they make it that far

Tulips are just such darling flowers, aren't they? I love them as cut flowers; gave my mother some last week and she's still enjoying them.

Thats really interesting, about it being able to open closed doors. I wonder how it earned that reputation.
